Hello, I'm Mary Gregory.
I am the pastry chef and founder of Sweet Escape Doughnuts and Bakery. I’m originally from Peterborough, New Hampshire, and I’ve been baking with a heart full of purpose ever since I was a teenager. At just 13 years old, I felt a clear calling from God that I was meant to become a pastry chef and open my own bakery. That vision became my path.
I went on to study at the Culinary Institute of America, where I gained the skills to match my passion. One of my favorite moments in that journey was making my brother’s wedding cake — I loved every second of it, from creating the flavors to designing the decorations. It reminded me that food is more than just food — it’s celebration, creativity, and love.
During my internship with ATY Hospitality, I discovered a deep love for crafting doughnuts. There’s something magical about the process — from mixing the dough to glazing each one by hand — and I knew that doughnuts would become my specialty.
Sweet Escape Doughnuts and Bakery is the start of that dream. My hope is that every bite brings a moment of joy, peace, and comfort — a “sweet escape” from everyday life.
Right now, I operate as a home-based bakery in Keene, NH, offering handcrafted doughnuts and custom pastries for events, local pop-ups, farmers markets, and special orders. While I’m still in the early days of my journey (yes — I’m still in my mid-twenties!), my goal is to one day open a storefront where the community can gather and share the sweetness of life together.
